Workshop Information

  1. Plasma Cutting and Welding: In this workshop, students will draw two approximately 6" x 6" shapes, then use plasma cutting to cut out and mig welding to weld together.
    • Students must wear shoes that cover their toes and heel, and non-synthetic shirt and pants that cover their legs.
  1. Drawing from Imagination: Ever wondered how to turn ideas in your mind into drawings? In this workshop, students will practice exercises that strengthen imaginative drawing, develop creative skills, and build a personal drawing practice.
  1. One Minute Movie: A one minute film project that uses all of the usual camera angles and compositions found in 95% of motion pictures.
  1. Nature and Landscapes with Pastels: Students will practice creating landscapes and nature-inspired paintings using pastels.
  1. Animation Flipbook: Explore the world of animation by designing a flipbook and learning how to turn it into a digital video clip.
  1. Contour Drawing: This workshop introduces students to drawing using charcoal. A range of exercises support sketching and refining lines, greater hand/eye coordination, a sensitivity to proportion, and rendering 3D objects onto a 2D surface. These are some basic skills for drawing from life.
    • Casual clothing is recommended since charcoal can be messy.
  1. Shading with Markers: This workshop teaches students to use fine tip and ultra fine tip Sharpies to render simple, geometric objects with different shading techniques. Hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and scribbling can be layered to create the illusion of light and shadow. The workshop will end with a group drawing exercise from imagination.
  1. Style Mood Board: Join us for a fashion workshop  for high school students interested in the world of design. This introductory session offers a glimpse into the dynamic Fashion Department at Pima Community College. Participants will learn the essential first step of the design process by creating their own mood boards . This hands-on activity will demonstrate how professional designers gather inspiration through curated images, colors, and textures, and it is also a fantastic opportunity for you to explore and develop your personal style.
  1. Game Design: If you like video games and you'd like to learn how they're made, come see how the Pima Game Pathway prepares students to make their own interactive vision. We'll review game design, concept art, asset production, coding, and more! You'll also get to see student work and discuss the skills necessary to land a job in the current game industry.
  1. Ceramic Cup Making: Students will have the opportunity to make their own hand-built cup using clay in our ceramics studio.
    • Students must wear closed-toe shoes
  1. Musical Theater: Learn how to sing and act at the same time through a musical theater song! No song preparation needed—just come ready to explore how music and acting fundamentals work together in performance.
  1. Jazz Broadway-Style Dance: Students will learn a jazz dance warmup, try out some jazz across-the-floors, and learn a Broadway-style jazz combination. Students can wear jazz shoes or socks to participate, and they should dress comfortably for movement.
  2. Introduction to Contemporary Dance: A fusion of ballet, modern, and jazz dance techniques. No previous dance experience required. Socks or bare feet, hair fastened back from face, and clothes you can move in!
